Dr. Merrill A. Ritter is the founder of The Center
for Hip and Knee Surgery at St. Francis Hospital Mooresville.
He is an internationally renowned specialist in total joint replacement
surgery, widely recognized for his surgical excellence and for
his scientific research in total joint replacement. He is a charter
member and president of the Association for Arthritic Hip and
Knee Surgery.

Dr. Michael E. Berend of The Center for Hip and
Knee Surgery has conducted extensive research in joint replacement
biomechanics and has co-authored numerous articles researching
various aspects of orthopaedics and joint replacement. His research
interests are in the area of osteonecrosis and clinical outcome

Dr. Philip M. Faris, also of The Center for Hip

associated with hip and knee replacement. Dr. Keating is associate
professor of orthopaedic surgery at Louisiana State University
School of Medicine and a Charter Member of The Association for
