BIOGRAPHY OF JOHN R. KNIGHT, M.D.

John R. Knight, M.D., is a graduate of Boston University and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Associate Director for Medical Education at the HMS Division on Addictions. He is Director of the Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research at Children's Hospital Boston (CeASAR).

Dr. Knight is the Principal Investigator of several studies on primary care office management of adolescent substance abuse funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). He has given many lectures and workshops on adolescent substance abuse at local, regional, and national conferences and has consulted with agencies such as NIAAA, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the President's Office of National Drug Control Policy. A contributor to several books, as well as a number of clinical and scientific articles on adolescent substance abuse, Dr. Knight served as a consensus panel member for two Treatment Improvement Protocol Manuals on adolescent substance abuse for SAMHSA. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and serves on the AAP's Committee on Substance Abuse.
